ETTRICK, Va. – Virginia State University (VSU) will host its third annual AgFest on Tuesday, March 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Foster Hall. The event is part of the university’s National Ag Day celebration, highlighting this year’s theme, “Together We Grow.”

AgFest brings together hundreds of students, community members, local leaders and K-12 schools to explore agriculture, food and sustainability. Attendees can enjoy educational exhibits, interactive activities, live entertainment, farm-to-table food, and vendors with the VSU Farmer's Market featuring over 20 local producers.

“AgFest is our way of connecting with students, educators, families and community members to explore how agriculture impacts every part of our lives and how VSU is preparing the next generation of leaders to make a difference,” said Janine Woods, Ph.D., associate administrator of Cooperative Extension at Virginia State.

Local farmers, industry experts and VSU’s College of Agriculture team will be on hand to engage with attendees. The event also provides a platform for students to learn about careers in agriculture and related fields.

“Whether you’re interested in exploring career paths, learning how agriculture connects to sustainability, or discovering how you can make a difference, there’s something for everyone,” said Tiquan Goode, a VSU College of Agriculture student. “High school students can learn about their next steps, and parents can explore opportunities for their children. You’ll meet faculty and staff, discover resources available at VSU, and see how agriculture connects to nearly every industry.”

The event is free and open to the public.
