Small Farm Enterprise Training includes the following sessions:*

MORNING

  • First Steps: Farm Registration and Licensing

  • Market Opportunities and Considerations (identifying potential markets and local points of sale)

  • Introduction to Costs, Budgeting and Recordkeeping (estimating and lowering costs, creating a budget, understanding price volatility and cash flow)

  • Conducting Market Research (identifying your competitors, your customers and alternative markets)


LUNCH (Vendor & Resource Fair)

AFTERNOON

  • Getting Your Personal Finances in Order (separating business and household finances, credit considerations)

  • Legal and Safety Considerations (food safety, worker regulations, pesticide training)

  • Risk Management (crop, farm and liability insurance)

  • Panel Q&A

  • Vendor & Resource Fair
