Bananas are thought to have originated in southeast Asia, specifically Papua New Guinea, around 10,000 years ago. A staple fruit enjoyed worldwide, bananas boast a rich history and significant impact, spanning from their ancient origins to their modern-day role in global food security and cultural symbolism, playing a crucial role in the diets of many, particularly in developing nations.

There's a lot more to this popular yellow fruit that adorns and dominates the grocery produce section than the Cavendish variety. Join this presentation as Gabe Sachter-Smith of Hawai’i Banana Source, will introduce you to his decades-long research and love for over 150 varieties of this amazing herb.
