She also holds an Agriculture Management degree from Garrett College along with a 2yr Agriculture Business Management certificate from the University of MD. Tammy is a Maryland certified nutrient management consultant.
Tammy has a strong research and agriculture back ground. She worked four years with the ARS, USDA, US Sheep Experiment Station, as a Biological Science Laboratory Technician (animal) were she helped with various experiments to advance the production of sheep through improved management practices, healthy feed supplements, and genetic selection. While at ARS she also participated in range studies targeted to maintain, protect and improve long term health of range lands used by domestic livestock and wildlife.
Raising quality farm products has been a long standing tradition on her MD family farm where she raised a variety of fruits and vegetables for exhibit at county and state fair events as fresh produce and canned goods. For many years she focused on raising both registered Hampshire and commercial sheep marketed to specific niche markets from coast to coast. The sheep have moved on to other green pastures, but she continues to grow and market high quality hay and Border Collies. Tammy is committed to community and youth development through 4-H, as a leader and volunteer.
