Working the Land- Without Losing Yourself

Tuesday, April 28, 2026 • 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM

564 Twin Arch Drive, Danville, Va 24641

Farmers experience chronic stress due to structural imbalances, demanding schedules, and limited control over their environment. Personal needs are often neglected in favor of farm responsibilities.

This session will offer practical strategies for shifting perspectives and building support systems to cope with these challenges. Rather than framing stress as an individual failing or clinical concern, this session situates farmer well-being within the lived realities of agricultural work, land stewardship, and rural identity.

Mark Howard, MSSW will lead a walk on his farm and discuss ways to deal with the daily stress of farming.
