2015-2020 Farmer of the Year - Bus Tour

Leaving from Randolph Farm Pavilion, 4415 River Road, Petersburg, VA 23803

Cost: $5, Limit 20 people


Join us on a three-day series of bus trips to see the 2015-2020 farmer of the year, farms.

TOUR 1 (9/13/21):

On day one we will visit our 2017 winner, Herbert Brown Sr.'s farm, Browntown farms. He mainly produces vegetables and has created a line of value-added products from his fruit and vegetable production.

TOUR 2 (9/14/21):

On day two join us to head over to visit our 2015 winners, Thomas and Anita Roberson of Botanical Bites and Provisions. This couple grows both in the field and in high tunnels. They produce vegetables, flowers, honey, and value-added products. Their markets are on-farm and farmers’ markets.

TOUR 3 (9/15/21):

Day three we will round out our bus tour with our 2016, 2019, and 2020 awardees. First, we will visit Rosa Nunez at Rosa’s Produce (2019 awardee), it is a combination of field and tunnel grown production of fruits and vegetables. They have an on-farm stand and also distribute produce. Second stop, we'll visit Charlie Malone of DaySpring Farm (2016 awardee) where he focuses on year round vegetable production in field and high tunnels. For our final stop, we will visit our most recent 2020 awardee Carolyn Quinn of Dug-In-Farm, grows a variety of produce and flowers both in field and under protection. She has an on-farm market as well as selling to local shops and cafes. This farm offers others a location open all week to sell their products including, but not limited to: plants, meats, and eggs. (For this tour, please bring a brown bag lunch).
