Please join the VCE Human Development Team during National Child Abuse Prevention Month as we come together to explore strategies, partnerships, and programs that strengthen families and build healthier communities.
The Child Abuse Prevention Summit will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Virginia State University in the Wilder Building.
The summit will feature speakers including Shawn A. Barksdale, ACEs Certified Teacher, motivational speaker, and Peer Recovery Specialist; the One Community: One Fight Mobile Educational Unit; representatives from Campbell County Public Schools and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, who will share effective strategies for supporting youth and reducing substance use and disciplinary incidents and the VCE's COPE Team.
Registration is required and is $20.00.
Event includes refreshments and lunch. Open to extension agents, volunteers, students, community members, partners, teachers, and VCE stakeholders.
