Time commitment: Part time - Must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week during the active academic semester (except academic breaks/holidays) until internship hours are satisfied

The College of Agriculture Marketing & Communications Department is seeking a PR & Social Media Intern will work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager in monitoring all forms of digital media and online communications with the public. This intern will be responsible for strategically helping with the planning of social media campaigns, creating optimized copy for the web, assisting with audience research and engagement, and collaborating on creative projects. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for creating and scheduling social media content and assisting with event marketing.



  • Must be eligible to receive academic internship credits for the Spring 2018 semester
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Experience using multiple social media platforms
  • Experience developing and marketing content for online mediums
  • Ability to identify social trends
  • Basic knowledge and application of SEO and digital marketing trends
  • Positive attitude; must be able to handle criticism
  • Basic knowledge of social networking analytics tools
  • Ability to propose and execute new and trending concepts for social media
  • Adobe Creative Suite skills is a plus
  • Interest in gardening, farming, animals, and science is a plus.


  • Building and executing social media strategy through audience research
  • Assist Digital Marketing Manager with generating and sharing content (original text, images, video or HTML) that promotes audience engagement
  • Assist in creating editorial calendars and syndication schedules using Hootsuite and/or Buffer
  • Collaborate with creative team on projects and event marketing
  • Assist with team in developing social media campaigns
  • Engage in social media presence creation
  • Create dynamic optimized written, graphic, and/or video content for web that protects and represents the brand in positive light
