Mushrooms are a profitable, sustainable crop that can be grown year round on a small footprint —-ideal for farms of any size looking to increase income and efficiency.
This hands-on workshop, held at the Sussex County Extension Office, is designed especially for small, beginning, entry, and emerging farmers interested in diversifying their operation and/or exploring mushrooms as a niche specialty crop product.
What You Will Learn:
How to create mushroom grow bags from start to finish
Step-by-step demo: fruiting to harvest
Blue oyster and lions mane 101
Tips for indoor, low-tech cultivation operations
Resources for turning your mushrooms into a market ready and/or added value products.
Mushroom networking
Following the Mushroom workshop, we will caravan to the Sycamore Spring Farm Market (Proprietor LaSonya White) located at 8322 Colonial Trail East, Surry Virginia .
