FREE EDUCATIONAL EVENT.  Please join us at VSU Randolph Farm to learn about bio-recycling agricultural wastes (straw, compost, etc.) to grow value added products like mushrooms and lettuce!  We will feature local mushroom farmers, Rickie and Kitty Boone (Ribickie Farms) who will share their experience growing and marketing value added mushrooms. VSU Agricultural Research Station Scientist, Dr. Adnan Yousuf will discuss about recycling crop residue from different agricultural crops to grow value added products such as romaine lettuce and oyster mushrooms.  VCE Powhatan County Agent, Mr. John Few and his clientele will share how to grow oyster mushrooms for home consumption. Farm marketing specialist Dr. Theresa Nartea will share exciting marketing ideas that include simple recipes for you to try!  We will have FREE RAFFLE drawings for value added mushroom products and mushroom kits for registered participants!  This workshop is funded by the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program.
